This is to inform you that asbestos cleanup activities at the Millennium Hilton e Hotel, 55 Church Street, New York, New York have been completed in • _ o
accordance with applicable rules and regulations governing the handling and ISO 9001 CERTIFIED disturbance of asbestos materials. All areas of the building have been decontaminated and air sampling has indicated the building is suitable for re- occupancy according to US EPA AHERA/NYC DEP protocol requiring all clearance samples demonstrate fiber concentrations of less than 70 S/mm2. •
Assessment and testing of potential asbestos hazards at the site commenced in NVLA ) mid-September 2001. This assessment included the following activities: NVLAP LAB CODE 200083-0 •
• Visual inspection of facility by certified personnel • Bulk sampling of debris with analysis by Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM) SM • Air sampling of interior spaces with analysis by Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM). • Air sampling for building occupant exposure to fibers in accordance • AASHTO R18 with OSHA 1926.58 and NIOSH 7400. • Air sampling of interior spaces with analysis by Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) • Dust sampling of surfaces with analysis by TEM in accordance with NYS DOH ELAP #10871, 11142 & 11651 ASTM D5755-95 "Microvac". •
Based on the condition assessment of the building, it was determined that asbestos decontamination of the building interior was warranted. Work was performed by ETS Contracting, Inc., Clay Street, Brooklyn, a New York State A,, ^" Department of Labor licensed asbestos contractor. Work commenced on May 9, 2002 and proceeded through the building in a top-down manner. Punch list work • W Testwell Laboratories, Inc.
