Pursuant to Section 25-310 of the Administrative Code of the City of New York Landmarks Preservation
Commission hereby approves certain alterations to the subject premises as prop I in your application completed
on July 9, 2002.
The approved work consists of cleaning the exterior of the building, including ti ade and roof, of debris
related to the collapse of the World Trade Center, including, at the facade, re* 0 all loose debris using,
on the horizontal surfaces, non-metallic bristle brushes or scrapers, followed, up !et Wi4tiUg and a low
pressure water rinse of not more than 250 PSI, and, at the roof, collecting all loc ;bris, washing loose
gravel, and wet wiping other surfaces, as described in specifications prepared; th y of New York
Department of Environmental Protection and submitted as components of this ai tip
In reviewing this proposal, the Commission noted that the Tribcca South.Hisroril " tistrict Designation Report
describes 109 Reade Street as a neo-Grec style store and loft building designed a erger and Baylies and
built in 1885. The Commission also notes that there is some debris on the roof aalE facade
Staff has reviewed these specifications and finds that the work on the facade 4 . .o will not require the
removal of any significant protected architectural material; that it will bring ie ranCa of the
building closer to its original condition; and that it will not detract from the arch u. ran character of
the building or streetscape. Therefore, the Commission has no objection to the *G'l proceeding at this time,
or the issuance of permits by any other city agency.
