A scan of the extract prepared for the 508 analysis, from 35 - 550 amu using a mass spectrometer, does reveal the presence of non-target compounds at levels relatively less than other samples. These hydrocarbons do not appear to be present in the Laboratory Blank. However, these hydrocarbons were present in previous Laboratory Blanks, and also some samples, analyzed for this NYCDEP project. An investigation is being made to determine the source of these hydrocarbons, if other than in the samples themselves, i.e. laboratory equipment.
