13.1.1 3 SOP'S - ICR manifold, well-slide. Method 1623
13.1.2 1 QAP - describing all laboratory calibrations and quality control practices
13.1.3 1 QAPP - Routine Keypoint Protozoan Monitoring
13.2 QC Per sample
13.2.1 Postive and negative control slides are prepared with each sample to ensure stain
performance, and comparative cyst and oocyst appearance. Results are pass/fail.
13.3 Weekly or Biweekly QC (equivalent to “Batch" QC)
13.3.1 Positive and negative spikes are added to carboys of DI water, filtered and taken
through the entire ICR analytical procedure to ensure the negative spike remains
negative and the positive spike results in recovery. Results are recorded as
percent recovery.
13.3.2 Positive and negative spikes are added to carboys of DI water, filtered and taken
through the entire Method 1623 analytical procedure to ensure the negative spike
remains negative and the positive spike results in recovery. Results are recorded
as percent recovery.
13.4 Monthly or Bimonthly QC
13.4.1 Precision of microscopic counts is performed between principle analysts for both
cysts and oocysts by replicate counting of the same slides of unknown
concentration.
13.5 Quarterly QC
13.5.1 The DEP is registered to electively participate in the EPA PE program for the ICR
manifold method and for Method 1623. Samples are delivered quarterly for
ongoing precision and recovery.
13.6 Method Specific QA/QC
13.6.1 Since all methods have different specific QA/QC this information can be found in
the respective SOP's.
14 Data Reduction, Verification, Validation, and Reporting
14.1 Calculations are deteimined according to the formula used in the April 1996 ICR
on pageVII-28 to VII-30.
14.2 No calculations are necessaiy for samples processed using the 1623 method.
Direct counts ai'e recorded.
14.3 Before data is reported it is checked by the principal analyst and compared to the
laboratoiy notebook.
14.4 The results ai'e validated by coixectly processing the QC samples and the weekly
batch samples and as well as passing internal Q.C. inspection by lab director and
Q.C. inspector.
