4.3 William G. Kuhne - Associate Microbiologist I - Principal Analyst
4.3.1 B.S. in Environmental Forest Biology from SUNY - ESF.
4.3.2 9 years experience in field sample collection and analyzing water and wastewater
samples for Giardia and Cryptosporidium.
4.3.3 5 years experience with immunofluorescent antibody techniques;
4.3.4 training and experience acquired under the direction of the New York City Dept, of
Env. Protection Pathogen Laboratory, Ben Nesin Facility where he has processed
over several hundred water and waste water samples.
4.4 Chai'les T. Lundy - Laboratoiy Microbiologist II - Technician
4.4.1 A.A.S. in Water Quality Monitoring from Ulster Community College.
4.4.2 9 years experience in field sampling and analyzing water and wastewater samples
for nutrient determinations and chlorophyll analysis
4.4.3 5 years experience processing water and wastewater samples for Giardia and
Cryptosporidium analysis at the N.Y.C. Dept, of Env. Protection Ben Nesin
Laboratory.
4.4.4 8 years experience with the City of Poughkeepsie Water Purification
Plant.performing bacteriological, microscopic and chemical examination of the
city's water supply.
4.5 The Department of Environmental Protection ha,s an aggressive literature search
program as well a.s subscription.s to the most relevant microbiological journals.
Additionally, department personnel are often sent to national and international
conferences addressing improved methods and data reporting.
5 Facilities
5.1 The facility has been upgraded and consists of the following;
5.1.1 The Pathogen Lab is located in the Ben Nesin Facility, bottom floor. The room is
approximately 19’x20', with a dark room located within the lab and measures
approximately 8'x10'.
5.1.2 Bench space; approximate length is 15 feet of usable bench space.
5.1.3 Storage space: other than the upgraded lab room, additional storage space and a
chemical storage room can be found on the ground floor of the building.
5.1.4 Lighting: several fluorescent ceiling lights and one large wall of windows provide
