8.7 Olympus BX50 System Microscope and BX60 System Microscope 8.7.1 These microscopes both have phase and DIG capabilities. 8.7.2 The dimensions are 12" x 20" x 33" for each microscope. 8.7.3 They are also capable of performing photomicrography and videomicrography. 8.7.4 For specific operating procedures reference can be made directly to the ICR. 8.7.5 The mercury bulb hours are recorded automatically on the powerpack and entered daily in the logbook, which is located in the microscope desk drawer. 8.7.6 Kohler illumination is established and both eyepieces are focused daily prior to use. At the end of each day of use the stage, objectives and eyepieces are cleaned. In addition, the microscopes are cleaned and realigned once a year by a trained professional.

8.8 Lab-line Multi-Wrist Shaker 8.8.1 The Wrist Shaker is a clamping type instrument used for washing the filter enclosed within the Envirochek capsule. The instrument is comprised of an electric motor driving two separate arm attachments with each having the capacity to hold 4 capsules. 8.8.2 There are no calibration procedures for this instrument. 8.8.3 For any trouble-shooting problems refer to the warranty folder in the file cabinet.

8.9 Dynal Sample Mixer 8.9.1 The Sample Mixer is a rotating type instrument used to rotate up to ten 10 ml Leighton tubes. The instrument is comprised of an electric motor with a 360- degree horizontal center-rotating shaft to which the tubes are attached. 8.9.2 There are no calibration procedures for this instrument. 8.9.3 For any trouble-shooting problems refer to the warranty folder in the file cabinet.

8.10 Dynal -MPC-1 and MPC-M 8.10.1 These hand held plastic coated magnetic devices are used in the immunomagnetic separation process to remove the organisms from the water sample. 8.10.2 There are no calibration procedures for this instrument.

9 Supplies

9.1 Included are the specifications for major supplie.s including storage conditions for reagents and media: 9.1.1 Laboratory glassware 9.1.1.1 The laboratory glassware (beakers, storage bottles and graduated cylinders) are kept on shelves after they are cleaned and washed. The glassware is of various sizes, depending upon the application for which it is utilized. Glass Pasteur pipettes, which are used in aspirating, are stored in their appropriate boxes until they are ready to be used. These pipettes are 5.75 inches in length. Glass slides (25 x 75 x 1 mm) and cover slips (25 x 25 x 1.5mm) are stored in a cabinet drawer for protection
